Dissimilar to other forms of recovery, the Eightfold Path is not a linear process. These eight elements can feed into one another, and flow however they should naturally.4
Essentially, the Eightfold Path is a summary of the path of Buddhist teachings that lead to liberation from samsara, the painful cycle of rebirth. So, the Eightfold Path is a blueprint for the steps to take in Buddhist rehab. The eight aspects of the path reflect right views, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.
It is also known as the path to Nirvana, which is a transcendent state. When reaching Nirvana you will find no suffering, desire, or sense of self. It is the final goal of Buddhist teachings. Buddhist teachings help those who end up in rehab to prevent relapse because it deals directly with cravings and how to let go.
